Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Geelong is a community based mentoring program which provides young people, who are in need of additional support and friendship, with a caring adult mentor and positive role model. Big Brothers Big Sisters is based on the simplicity and power of friendship. The program has been operating in Geelong since 2003 under the auspices of Barwon Youth and is currently funded by the Victorian Government (Department of Planning and Community Development) and United Way Geelong. Big Brothers and Sisters are adults (18 years and over) who come from all walks of life, married, single, with or without children. They are someone are young person can trust, talk to, learn from and help build new skills to assist a young person to participate and connect to their community.
