YOUTH CONNECTIONS
Youth Connections provides an individual case manager to assist young people in overcoming barriers to education, training and employment. The program utilises an existing range of programs across Barwon Youth and the Geelong Region to assist young people to re-engage. Youth Connections staff identify and work with young people who are disengaging or severely disengaged through a range of the following strategies:
- Liaising with schools/welfare staff to identify young people becoming disengaged or exiting school
- Proactive approaches to ensure young people are aware of the Youth Connections service, including liaising with and providing information to Centrelink, and other relevant service organisations in the region
- Use of assertive outreach initiatives such as the StreetSurfer Youth Bus and provision of venues that provide support and positive activites for young people.
Funded by Deptartment of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
